The Pay Per Credit program is an alternative to purchasing a perpetual license. You pay only for the number of Credits you use. The Pay Per Credit program is available for the Service Provider Edition. It includes one Server license and software, and as many End User License Credits as you need.
Here's how it works: You make a deposit into your account with RBS, and we deliver the software to you. Periodically your Server will securely report to RBS the number of credits you are using on your Server. On the 15th of every month, RBS will charge your account for the number of credits, or the monthly minimum if your charge for credits is less. When your initial deposit is depleted, you may make another deposit, or give us a credit card number and we will deduct future charges from your credit card.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the software I use under this program the same as if I had bought it outright? Yes, except for one feature - the Pay Per Credit software will not back up mapped drives. Other than that, we deliver our regular Service Provider Edition software in the Pay Per Credit program.
So I can customize it and brand it with my own company name? Yes. The software has all Service Provider features turned on.
What about Trial Accounts and Suspended Accounts? RBS charges the same price for Trial Accounts and Suspended Accounts as it does for regular, paying customers who use up accounts.
Where is my Server hosted, and where are my clients' files stored? In the Pay Per Credit program you install our software on your computer(s) and you host your customers' data. If you would like RBS to host your Server, you might be interested in our Virtual Hosting program.
I see that this program is less expensive in the short run, but more expensive in the long run. What if I want to buy the software later, to lower my costs of doing business? You can certainly do that. RBS can convert your Pay Per Credit program into an outright purchase without effecting your Online Backup Service or your customers. The price to convert is simply the list price of the software for the version you want. We do not offer a discount for upgrading to a perpetual license. See prices here...
Under this program, do you have the ability to view or control my Service? Your Server's periodic report to us is fully encrypted and contains only the number of credits you have used. We can't see your customers' data and we can't control your Service except for the case below.
What if my deposit runs out and I don't pay any more? RBS will try our best to contact you to see what we can do to help. If we can't work something out, we will suspend your Server's license, which will make it inoperable until your account is brought up to date. Your Server periodically validates your license by making an outbound connection to RBS' License Server. RBS cannot "log into" your Server.
What if I decide to quit the program before my deposit is used up? Deposits are non-refundable. RBS will keep your Server license alive until the minimum monthly fee depletes your deposit.
Is a Maintenance Subscription included? Yes. The Pay Per Credit program comes with the same support options as the Software Package you select.
Is the Pay Per Credit program available for other editions? No. The Pay Per Credit program is available only for the Service Provider Edition.
Who does Tech Support for my clients? You do. RBS does not communicate with your clients.
