CLIENT FAILS TO UNINSTALL PROPERLY AFTER UPGRADE TO 9.2
http://rbsdrive.com/rbstech/TS100297.HTM

Article Number: 100297
Software: CLIENT Version 9.2

Problem: After upgrading 9.0.6/9.0.8 version clients to the latest version (9.2.1), the Uninstall from Add/Remove programs does not remove the software properly in some machines.

Solution: Follow the guidelines below to remove the Remote Backup client manually.

First make sure the client is not running. Check for rbclient.exe and rbackup.exe under the Task Manager - Processes.

Save a copy of the clients' "backup.mdb" file from 'C:\Program Files\Remote Backup' folder (or Application folder) to an alternate location. (Important: This step is required if this is an existing client.)

Steps for complete uninstall of Client:

1. Uninstall the client (Remote Backup) by going into Control panel->Add/Remove Programs. If this procedure fails, proceed with step 2.

2. Delete the 'C:\Program Files\Remote Backup' folder (or Application Folder).

3. Delete the 'C:\Program Filers\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6' folder. (if present)

4. Browse to 'C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information' folder. Delete the folder: f0674b40-d8c3-11d3-8c61-00104b1f6cf0 or make a search for it, and delete it. (Hidden folder)(if present)

5. Click on Windows: Start->Run ..type in 'regedit'. From the registry editor, browse to: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE". Delete the whole 'Quantum Tech, Inc.' branch.

6. Click on Windows: Start->Run ..type in 'regedit'. Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall": Delete the {f0674b40-d8c3-11d3-8c61-00104b1f6cf0} branch. Reinstall the latest version of client (version 9.2.1). If this is an existing client install, when prompted for 'New Registration or Disaster Recovery'; simply close the client application and copy back the saved backup.mdb file back to the Application Folder (or 'C:\Program Files\Remote Backup' folder), and restart the client. If this is fresh client install, proceed with 'New Registration'.
