Redundant Hybrid Backup

RBackup Online Backup version 11.7 (released on October 9, 2012) introduced a brand new concept in data availability and redundancy. Redundant Hybrid Backup (RHB) replicates backups in up to three storage locations simultaneously, advancing standard Hybrid Backup to a new level of safety.

RHB makes three backup copies in geographically separate locations:

  • The Online Backup Server;
  • A shared local network location or hard drive;
  • and a third location that can be on any Cloud Storage Service that supports mapped drives or folders (Google Drive, DropBox), or a local or remote location accessed through a VPN, with FULL strong encryption throughout. [more info here]

    • During a restore operation RBackup is smart enough to know the fastest restore location and will restore files the quickest possible way, without asking any questions. Just select the files you want to restore, and RBackup does the rest.

    If the files to restore are in the local network RBackup will restore them at local network speed, decreasing restore time dramatically.

    Backups can be sent to one, two, or all locations simultaneously. All backup sessions are authenticated with the RBS Server before backups start, so as an RBS Partner you will never lose control of your customers' backups. Clients must authenticate with your RBS Server before doing any backups - RBS Server, Local, or Cloud.

    Restores can be done without RBS Server authentication, in case of an emergency that makes the RBS Server unavailable to the Client when a restore is needed.

    RHB gives your customers Enterprise level data safety with:

  • Up to three geographically separate backup locations;
  • More exact copies of backups to insure a good restore;
  • Automatic lightning fast restores from local backups;
  • Two fully customer-controlled backup locations;
  • Fully compliant strong encryption at all locations including Cloud Services;
  • Direct Client to Data Store distributed backups for low server loading.
