Windows Dial-Up Server
Use these instructions only if you need to set up your RBackup Server to accept direct inbound modem calls from your clients. This is NOT NEEDED if your clients come to you through the Internet.
Dial-Up Server is part of MS Windows and NOT part of the RBS
software. Dial-Up Server is easy to setup, configure and
operate. REMEMBER, if your clients are going to dial directly into your
Server, the phone line needs to be dedicated, and not shared with a fax
machine or answering machine.
Click MY COMPUTER. If you don't see
Dial-Up Networking OR Dial-up Server it means that it has not been installed on
this computer. You will need to install it.
CLICK Dial-Up Networking.

You can click CANCEL if this window appears. This is what you see if
you have never setup for this computer to dial out, and you will not be using
SERVER to dial OUT.

Here is what you will see now: Click the CONNECTIONS tab on the top.

Choose Dial-Up Server: REMEMBER, IF YOU DO NOT SEE THIS IT IS BECAUSE
IT HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER. Your computer MUST have a
MODEM (Internal or External) installed also.

Notice, I have checked the radio button to ALLOW CALLER ACCESS. When I
did this CHANGED PASSWORD is no longer grayed out. Leave Comment field
blank. Click CHANGE PASSWORD:

Leave OLD PASSWORD field blank. Enter in a NEW PASSWORD then do it
again in the CONFIRM NEW PASSWORD field. NOTE: WRITE THIS PASSWORD DOWN -
- DO NOT LOSE IT. This password allows your RBackup clients to be able to
dial-into your server, and pass it to your RBS Server. If they cannot
connect HERE, the backup session STOPS before it gets a chance to start.
After you are done, click OK.
Now click SERVER TYPE: Make sure it looks like this. When you're done,
click OK.

Now click APPLY. Notice the BLUE screen in your Windows Tray (where the
clock is). When you place your mouse arrow on it, it says "Dial-Up
Server" which means your Server is READY to answer incoming calls from your
Dial-Up modem-to-modem clients.
